Paper 45: Persona Bubbles — Persistent Evolutionary AI Entities
Personas are not prompts — they are persistent evolutionary entities with memory, traits, and growth trajectories. A Persona Bubble carries history across sessions and evolves with every interaction.
The problem with prompt-based personas
Most AI persona systems are stateless system prompts: paste a description, get a character, close the window, lose everything. The next session starts from zero.
Persona Bubbles reject this model. A Bubble is a persistent entity with a name, a history, a set of traits that have evolved from past interactions, and a memory of what worked and what did not.
Evolution over time
A Bubble accumulates evidence from every session: which responses the user found valuable, which topics the Bubble excels at, which interaction styles work for this user. Over time the Bubble becomes specialized.
This is the difference between a tool and a collaborator. Tools are stateless. Collaborators remember.
- Persistent across sessions — no restart from zero
- Trait evolution: the Bubble specializes based on feedback
- Memory of successful interaction patterns
- Shareable: export a Bubble and give it to a colleague
